Christians from the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis attended religious services and engaged in processions to celebrate Palm Sunday, which marks the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem more than 2000 years ago.

Palm Sunday also marks the end of the five-week Lenten season to begin the suffering and pbadion of Jesus Christ.

Most of the churches in the city were filled with rooms decorated with palm leaves.

Some members treated in the main streets of Takoradi amid the fanfare music, waving their palms and singing Hosanna.

In a sermon, Reverend Father Dominic Nelson Tawiah, principal celebrant of the Mbad, invited Christians to enjoy this day to reflect on the pbadion and suffering of Christ to save humanity.

He emphasized the importance of the Holy Cross for the Catholic Church, noting that it is on the cross that Jesus Christ died to save humanity, and said that They should not hesitate to recognize the importance of the cross in their evangelization.

He told the parishioners not to behave like the Jews who welcomed Christ with palm branches and who only turned around to shout "crucify him" because he did not answer to their expectations.

Father Tawiah said that even though the Jews saw the cross as a symbol of shame and suffering, the crucifixion of Christ on the cross changed everything.

He said that the ancients thought that Jesus would be a king on earth forgetting that his kingdom was in heaven.

Father Tawiah told Christians that they were connected to heaven and that they led a life worthy of emulation, which would send them to heaven, instead of depending on earthly things.

He urged all participants to use Week of Pbadion to draw closer to God so that the five weeks of Lent yield fruit.

Father Tawiah urged them to use Holy Week to reflect on their lives and to make amends where they had fallen.

Prayers have been said for the church, the nation and its rulers, as well as for peace, unity and development.
