The Eastern Region Police Command arrested five suspects linked to the armed attack in Asuboi, near Suhum, which resulted in the death of a Chinese national involved in the project. a district (1D1F) in this part of the region.

The deceased was identified as Song Zhao Sheng, 58 years old.

Public Relations Officer of the East Region Police, Deputy Police Superintendent (DSP), Mr. Ebenezer Tetteh, said the police were closely following the suspects since Friday's attack April 12, 2019.

According to him, a team led by Deputy Police Superintendents (ASP), Mr. Joseph Owusu and Mr. Stephen Antwi, during various operations, arrested the suspects who had visited the site earlier Friday morning. of the project and have established themselves as guardians of the territory.

The suspects

Two days after the macabre attack of April 14, 2019 around 8 o'clock in the morning, one of the suspects, Kwaku Djin, aged 19, was arrested in Anom.

Later that day, police also arrested suspects Dennis Atta Kwabena Senior and Daniel Atta Kwabena Junior. They are twins, 34 years old. They were arrested in Asuboi.

"During a search of their respective rooms, a cell phone, a laptop and a quantity of dried leaves suspected of being Indian hemp were found in the room of suspect Dennis Atta Kwabena Senior with six Assorted cell phones and a quantity of leaves believed to be hemp were also found in the room of suspect Daniel Atta Kwabena Junior.

"Suspects have since been arrested to help with the police investigation and exhibits are being kept for further action," said DSP Tetteh.

Once again in Asuboi, the police also arrested suspects Yegbe Savior and Richard Offei aka Kwadjo Asuboi aged 22 and 26 respectively. They were arrested on Monday, April 15, 2019.

All the suspects are currently in custody and are participating in the investigations, said Tetteh DSP.

Context

In recounting the crime, DSP Tetteh explained that on April 12, 2019, around 2 pm, the night patrol team led by Chief Inspector Stephen Asare had information from the Regional communication unit of Koforidua headquarters that an apartment located in Asuboi, near Suhum was under attack of flight.

"The team quickly went to the premises of Asuboi where, in an independent four-bedroom apartment, she met with six Chinese nationals who are currently undertaking a project of a district, a factory (1D1F).

Valuables were stolen, including seven mobile phones, 15,000 Chinese Yen, 37,000 Gh ¢ and an HP notebook.

"Song Zhao Sheng, 58 years old now deceased, was hit in the head with a block of cement, was wounded in the head and was transported to the Suhum public hospital, but was declared dead at his arrival, "he said.

DSP Tettey told Graphic Online that the team had thoroughly cleaned the area but the thieves had not been found. The scene was carefully inspected and photographed after inspection. "The investigations were extended to the Suhum Government Hospital where the body of the deceased Song Zhao Sheng was inspected and found with a cut in the back of the head and blood coming out of it.

The body was photographed and deposited at the morgue pending an autopsy.

Police protection

According to DSP Tetteh, the factory is located in Asuboi, which was politically responsible for the Ayensuano district but was under the control of the Suhum police.

He further stated that the high ranking regional police had met with the Chinese ambbadador and badured that everything was under control.
