Former Nigerian captain Austin Jay-Jay Okocha faces jail time after being arrested Tuesday by a court on charges of tax evasion.

The arrest warrant was issued by Judge Adedayo Akintoye at the High Court of Lagos State, after the former captain of the Bolton Wanderers did not appear in court. This is the second time that it has been ordered to stop Okocha for this allegation of alleged tax evasion by the state of Lagos.

The judge first made the order on January 29 as a result of a request from the Justice Ministry of Lagos State.
According to the latest report on Vanguard, the former Nigerian international has been accused of alleged tax evasion, which has forced the court to issue a warrant for arrest.

The Lagos state government had accused the former Paris-Saint-Germain star of tax evasion that he would not have settled there two years ago. The High Court Judge of Lagos State issued this order for the first time on Jan. 29 as a result of a request from the Justice Ministry of Lagos State.

But there were also reports claiming that Austin Okocha denied being found guilty of any tax evasion. Earlier, Legit.ng told how former super Eagles captain Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha had revealed that he had heard the news of his arrest orders in the newspapers.

The 45-year-old was recently accused of deliberately avoiding paying taxes, after which a Lagos court issued an arrest warrant against him. According to the report, the Justice Minister of Lagos State has accused the former midfielder of the Premier League, in court, of three charges for failing to render account of his income.
