Ofosu Ampofo and Kwaku Boahen will appear in court for tape leak

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, president of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who is appearing in court, is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday to answer charges of conspiracy to harm and badault a public official. To appear alongside Ofosu Ampofo, Kwaku Boahen, the NDC's Deputy National Communications Officer, faces similar charges.

They both denied the charges against them.

The charges were laid against the two people after being reported in March 2019 to answer questions about a recorded tape in which they allegedly made certain statements inciting violence.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo refused to comment publicly on the audio that would have been tampered with.

When he went to CID headquarters on Monday, March 4, 2019, the audio was broadcast for about 30 minutes, after which he was asked if it was his voice, but he declined to comment on the audio , includes Graphic Online.

He was formally arrested and charged with the threat of harm and conspiracy to harm a public official. He then proceeded to write his statement.

After that, he was released on bail of an amount of 400,000 Gh ¢ with two sureties.

Since then, he has been coming to the CID intermittently.
