Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II urged traditional leaders to work with the government as nodes of continuity to improve the lives of Ghanaians.

The Asante monarch who holds the post of Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Kwame Nkrumah (KNUST) said that because of the direct relationship that exists between the chiefs and the inhabitants of their respective communities, the leaders are well aware of the needs and aspirations of the mbades.

This, he said, is an excellent tool that can be used to help the central government to develop the right policies and strategies for nation-building.

Otumfuo spoke at the opening of Chancellor's week to celebrate his 20-year reign on the gold stool. It was organized by KNUST in collaboration with the Manhyia Palace on Monday, April 15th, 2019.

He said that the 20-year anniversary marked the beginning of a fresh start in the Ashanti region to exploit opportunities in accordance with government programs, working in partnership with Ghanaian companies for business. 39 venturing into areas generating economic benefits for Asanteman in particular and for Ghana in general. .

Nana Effah-Apenteng, Chair of the KNUST Council, described Otumfuo as a pioneering peacekeeper.

He said the Chancellor of the University had provided outstanding leadership and had been a pioneer in many areas.

Nana Effah-Apenteng said that the university had designed week-long activities in honor of Otumfuo, as well as to celebrate the successes won by the University, Asanteman and the country as a whole.
