Akufo Addo In Black President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

The Ningo Prampram MP, Samuel Nartey George, accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of being the only president in the history of Ghanaian politics to have benefited the most from political vigilance.

During a visit to Asutifi North in the new region of Ahafo over the weekend, President Akufo-Addo had advised Ghanaians not to let multiparty democracy divide them before the 2020 elections. He specifically warned them about acts of violence.

Sam George said the president does not have the moral authority to advise Ghanaians against political violence because he has made the most of it.

"If you look at our political history as a country of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, there is only one person whom you can readily describe as the greatest beneficiary of vigilance, [and it] is our current president, "he said.

He claimed that the acts of violence that had characterized Atiwa's 2010 by-election had been committed in favor of Akufo-Addo, then a presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

"Atiwa was a violent [village] and the president, then candidate, took it for credit and rejoiced, "he said.

The MP has also accused the president of being a talkative who cares little about the problems of corruption and vigilance that the country faces.

"The president can give a beautiful sound [words] and say that he fights against corruption and vigilance, but when the president himself is inactive to decisively attack these cancers ….

"We can have all the good conversation to do things right, we say all the beautiful things in Parliament and we say all the beautiful things when we sit here, do we practice what we say? And I say that the president is guilty of that, "he added.

Sekondi MP Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer, also on the program, strongly rejected Sam George's claims about the president.

According to the Sekondi MP, President Akufo-Addo is by nature a peaceful man who has carved out a special place in this regard.

"This is not a violent person and has never benefited from any violent political activity," he said.
