An aphrodisiac presented as the "Female Viagra" would have again been examined by the authorities as it could cause severe hypotension and fainting if used with alcohol.

In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warns people against an aphrodisiac known as "female Viagra", apparently because it can be fatal if it is used with l & # 39; alcohol.

As a result, the agency asked the drug's manufacturer, Sprout Pharmaceuticals, to make a change to the safety labeling of Addyi.

Warnings and precautions on the drug's label should advise women to stop drinking alcohol for at least two hours before taking the tablets.

The drug is supposed to be taken once a day, usually at bedtime.

The FDA also said that women should not drink alcohol at least one morning after a dose of Addyi.

The FDA approved the drug in August 2015 to treat low badual desire in older women. The order of modification of the labeling followed a review of post-marketing studies of Addyi.

An FDA statement said: "Based on a careful review of the data available … the removal of this important safety information was not acceptable for the protection of public health".

During one study, it was found that women who were taking Addyi while they were drinking alcohol, were suffering from hypotension while lying down or exhibited related symptoms such as dizziness. Blood pressure has also been increased accordingly.
