A former Clerk of Parliament, Samuel Ntim Darkwa, has submitted copies of two books that he co-authored on Parliament, to former President Rawlings.
The revised edition of the books, titled "The Evolution of Parliament in Ghana" and "How Our Functions in Parliament" was presented by Mr. Darkwa when he called the former president the Thursday, 11th of April.
Mr Darkwa told the former president that after decades of working with parliamentary service, he thought it wise to "put something for posterity". The books he mentioned are dedicated to the Constituent Assembly, which drafted the constitution of 1992.
In a frank discussion with the former president, Mr. Darkwa said that when promulgating the 1992 constitution, he regularly prayed with a colleague that his constitution be maintained.
The former Clerk of Parliament congratulated the former president for his role in supporting the Fourth Republic, recalling that when the constitution was first presented to the head of the state of the 39, he called on all to ensure that it is a lasting legacy for Ghana.
Former President Rawlings said he was honored to have received the books and that he would strive to read them and take notes for his autobiography.
He congratulated the former Clerk of the Parliament for writing this book and noted that few of them wrote, which allowed some to distort the history of Ghana's political evolution.
Mr. Samuel Ntim Darkwa has the enviable reputation of having worked in the parliament of the four republics. He was also clerk of the Constituent Assembly, which drafted the 1992 constitution.
The co-author, K. B. Ayensu, was the first clerk of the Parliament of Ghana.
