Foreign powers aggravate the conflict in Libya? | Middle East

The rival Libyan forces are intensifying their struggle for control of Tripoli.

Troops loyal to the UN-backed government in the capital are trying to stop the advance of strong man Khalifa Haftar, who launched his offensive on the town two weeks ago.

At least 120 people were killed.

The UN says fighting is undermining international peace efforts.

But behind the scenes, some Western countries and other powers in the region have been supporting Haftar.

So, can these competing nations work together to end the violence?
