President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commissioned the Ministry of Roads and Highways to modernize the 30 km stretch of Techiman-Nkoranza road in the newly created Bono Est region.

The project is scheduled to begin in June this year and will focus on the expansion and upgrading of the single-track road into a two-lane asphalt road.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV has already presented 200 hectares of land in Oforikrom on this particular stretch for the construction of the new home of the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council.

Mr. Kwasi Amoako-Atta, Minister of Roads and Highways, gave this directive at a public meeting at Techiman as part of President Akufo-Addo's four-day working visit to the newly created regions of Bono-East and Ahafo.

He said work would begin soon and advised property developers and local residents not to encroach on the land, saying the government would not pay any compensation to people growing on land close to the area.

Mr. Amoako-Atta noted that the reconstruction of the road would open and facilitate the development of infrastructure of the new regional capital.

President Akufo-Addo then handed over eight vehicles and five motorcycles for the smooth running of the JRC. He urged the population to support Mr. Kofi Amoakohene, the new regional minister, MP for the Atebubu-Amantin constituency to facilitate the rapid development of the region.
