The English Football Federation has accused Paul Scholes of having broken the rules of the game by betting on games.
The FA claims that former midfielder Manchester United and England placed 140 bets on matches between August 2015 and January of this year, covering a period when he was director of the fifth-ranked club of Salford City.
Scholes resigned as Salford director in February to become Oldham's director but lasted only 31 days.
English football players and officials are not allowed to bet on any match.
Scholes retains a 10% stake in Salford.
