George RR Martin, the author of Game of Thrones, dismissed the opportunity to know the date on which fans can expect the next book in the series, and for good reason too.

The 70-year-old creator of Song Of Fire And Ice, on which the HBO franchise is based, says that he's not going to worry about worrying about the release of the upcoming novel, because 39, do not stick to that.

Tonight, George told Entertainment: "I do not have a date. I gave up giving dates because I gave one, then I miss her and everyone gets angry.

"It will be done when it is done."

He added, "It's been going very well lately, so hit some wood."

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones began on Sunday, with actors being moved to say goodbye, but George does not think this is the right time to end it.

"I do not think it should be the last season, but we are there," he said at the series premiere in New York last week.

"It seems to me that we started last week. Is it longer than that? Time has pbaded in a blur. But it's exciting.

"I know it's an end, but it's not really an end for me, I'm still writing books."

"We have seen five more consecutive series in development. I think I'm going to hang around Westeros while everyone is gone. "

Game Of Thrones continues on HBO and Sky Atlantic next Sunday. Seasons 1 to 7 are available in streaming on NOW TV.
