AYoung shley became the last footballer to be the subject of racist abuse on social media after the release of the Manchester United Champions League in Barcelona.
The 33-year-old defender was targeted on Twitter following the 3-0 defeat of the first leg on Tuesday night against Nou Camp, who saw United leave the competition in the quarter-finals after a 4-0 defeat.
Anti-discrimination activists Kick It Out have appealed to the social media platform to respond to a series of incidents.
The organization said via its own official Twitter account: "Another black player, this time Ashley Young, victim of racist abuse on social media after the game of the Champions League tonight.
"Once again, we still have to ask @TwitterUK the same question: when will you take serious steps to fight endemic discrimination on your platform?"
Mohamed Salah, Danny Welbeck, Raheem Sterling, Michy Batshuayi, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Moussa Sissoko have all been victims of abuse on the same platform in recent years.
The Young's incident comes just days after Instagram attack from MK Dons striker, Chuks Aneke, following the 2-1 defeat of Ligue 2 against Saturday at Tranmere.
Racism in football is causing more and more concern after a series of attacks against players on social media, in and around stadiums.
