While heartbreaking photographs of the disaster of the old Parisian monument have upset the world, some shots of the structure on fire can show more than they seem at first glance.
It is said that a photo of infernal flames tearing the 853-year-old cathedral shows the silhouette of Jesus Christ in the embers.
Appearing to stand among the flames, the complete silhouette can be seen in the middle of the scaffolding that has collapsed and that surrounded parts of the prized building.
Lesley Rowan, from Alexandria, in West Dunbartonshire, was among the first to spot this frightening apparition – and compared it to Jesus.
She told the Daily Record: "When I looked at this picture last night, I was really amazed at what I saw.
"When I look at him, I see a silhouette of Jesus, I really see a living image.
"I shared it and asked people's opinion – even my brother in Australia said he looked like Jesus."
At 28, he added: "I think that it will bring comfort to the inhabitants of Paris and the whole world in this sad period".
Others have turned to social media, where they have also made this amazing discovery.
Louise Blair wrote: "Looks like a figure of Jesus, or I stumble?"
And Grant Mackenzie agreed, writing: "Yeah I saw it right away – that's Jesus!"
FACE IN THE FLAMES
Meanwhile, another dramatic photo showing the moment when the beloved spire of the cathedral collapsed has also been cited by some.
The incredible picture, which we used on the front page yesterday, apparently showed a threatening face that stared at the tower in ruins.
Sun's reader, Lucy R, wrote on Twitter: "Anyone can see a weird face in the yellow smoke on the left of the arrow ??"
Millions of people around the world witnessed Monday the horror of the beloved Parisian cathedral, considered the most beautiful in the world, in flames.
Hundreds of brave firefighters managed to save Notre Dame's iconic Twin Towers and many of her treasured treasures were saved, but her arrow was engulfed by the fire.
Initial theories suggest that the fire – broadcast live on television and attended by horrified Parisians, many of whom were singing in a dark prayer – might have accidentally started in the attic where renovations were underway.
