Police unearth a decomposed man buried in Ayiwata

Police and environmental health officers have uncovered the decomposed remains of a 25-year-old man in Ayiwata Domekope, North Volta District of North Tongu. The deceased, Yahaya Mahamadu, reported missing by the family member, was reportedly killed and buried in a remote part of the desert community.

A spokesman for the family who spoke to the media said the deceased was a shepherd who normally does his rounds with cattle in the bush, adding that he could sometimes stay for weeks before returning home.

Mr. Abubakar Siddique Hugo stated that they thought that the deceased had left the area until they were looking for him and, in doing so, had found a shallow grave with his cell phone and some surrounding work tools. He reported the incident to the police.

The family asks that justice be done to the deceased and asks that the culprits be brought for reservation as soon as possible.

The DSP Joshua Semanyoh, police commander of Juapong District, said that an investigation into the death of the man had been opened and called for the cooperation of residents in and out of the community to translate the authors in court. He badured that the police would do their utmost to solve the mystery surrounding the heinous crime committed in the region.

The district chief (DCE) of the region, Richard Collins Arku, described the killing of Yahaya as unhappy and pathetic, adding that the Muslim community must show restraint and patience for the police to conduct the necessary investigations.

Mr. Arku sympathized with the bereaved family and badured that efforts will be made to bring the guilty to the pound.

This is the second time that such incidents have occurred in the area, which has created fear and dismay throughout the entire Dylan community in the area.

The exhumed body of late Yahaya Mahamadu was sent to the police hospital morgue in Accra for autopsy.
