A huge tumor has developed on the back of a cancer patient for over 30 years to weigh an impressive 24 kg.

Brave surgeons in Shanghai, China, have been operating for more than a day to successfully eradicate this huge growth.

Desperate, Mr. Tang had begged several doctors to help him.

But he was fired several times because of his extremely complex condition, local media reported.

It is said that the 33 inch by 25 inch tumor is "hooked to his lungs, spine and major blood vessels", making it an extremely difficult operation to remove.

But following an almost fatal break-up and a heavy bloody loss, Dr. Yang Jun agreed to perform the precarious procedure.

SURGERY OF MARATHON

The 33-hour marathon surgery began on April 1 and saw the expertise of Dr. Yang and a team of doctors from Ninth People's Shanghai Hospital fighting to gently remove the mbad.

Dr. Yang said that a significant blood loss during the surgery was "inevitable" because of the interconnected tissue between the tumor and the vital organs of the patient.

Mr. Tang was criticized several times during this tense operation.

But in the end, the procedure was deemed a total success.

Surgeons have not only been able to remove all the cancerous growth, they have even been able to cover their wounds with a healthy tissue located outside of the tumor.

Mr. Tang was kept in intensive care for four days after the operation – and normally ate on the fifth day.

He was transferred out of the intensive care unit on the sixth day and he is now able to walk without help.
