Logo renamed by the FDA The new FDA logo

First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo yesterday unveiled a new logo for the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to reflect the renewed efforts to position the agency as a center of excellence in protection of public health and safety.

The new logo, consisting of two yellow and blue arches, forming a circle around the acronym "FDA", symbolizes the Authority's willingness to engage fully with stakeholders, provides a comprehensive surveillance system for the property consumer and guarantees authenticity.

In a speech, the First Lady emphasized the unique role the FDA has played over the years in protecting public health, indicating that a brand change at that time would better project the brand image of the public. institution and strengthen its respect among local and international stakeholders.

However, she warned that "the change of brand name should not be done to change the name, but must ensure that it is useful and consistent with your mandate to the Ghanaian people."

After recently winning the title of Nutrition Champion for the country, Akufo-Addo said that issues of malnutrition, food hygiene and unhealthy products remained at the center of her concerns.

She expressed concern about the recent use of water bags, which she said had increased public waste and continued to degrade the environment.

"If we do not act now to stop this pollution, the future of our planet would be compromised. We must make every effort to reduce, recycle and reuse plastics and plastic materials to preserve our environment, "she urged.

Ms. Akufo-Addo encouraged FDA staff to adopt the new face of the regulator and to oppose practices that might "oppose the spirit of the new brand company so that you can build together an institution that will stand the test of time.

"To all FDA stakeholders and partners, it is an opportunity to adopt the new brand and be counted as true partners in the development of such a vital institution," she pleaded.

Vice Minister of Health Alexander Kwadwo Kom Abban, in a speech, instructed the FDA to critically review the effective regulation of advertisements, especially herbal medicines, to change brands.

It also asked the Authority to strengthen its post-market monitoring to ensure that regulated products on the market were safe, effective and of good quality despite the country's porous borders.

"The launch of a new visual identity indicates that the institution intends to move towards a better direction, to improve it, but also implies that it uses additional means to fulfill its mandate, "he noted.

"It is therefore of concern that almost all radio and television commercials broadcast plant-based products and I wonder if these advertisements have been approved by the FDA in light of the claims made in these advertisements."

"I would really appreciate if you take this warning as one of your major upcoming projects by building links and collaborating with relevant institutions such as the Ghana Advertising Association ( AAG), the National Media Commission (NMC), the Ghana Association of Journalists (GJA), the Association of Independent Broadcasters of Ghana (GIBA), the BNI, the police and other relevant institutions so to make sure that this threat is dealt with, "urged the deputy minister.

FDA CEO Delese Darko said the brand change would make the FDA a dynamic, evolving brand that has evolved over time and remains relevant in an ever-changing business environment.

According to her, the new look underscored the FDA's position as a human-centered and quality-focused institution.

"Brand change means redefining the FDA to adopt improved and effective regulations to ensure transparency, fairness and prioritization of the well-being of Ghanaian citizens."

When the FDA logo appears on a product, users must be badured that the product is of good quality and safe, and when the FDA logo appears on a label, people need to know and be badured that the holder can do so. trust its supplier for excellent service. in a timely manner, "she said.
