The tallest modular hotel in the world is coming to New York.
The 360-meter-high NoMad AC Hotel New York will feature 168 rooms that will be built in a factory in Poland before being shipped to the city.
Upon arrival, the tower will be erected in 90 days, according to Marriott.
The construction process in North America is "ripe for innovation," said Eric Jacobs, director of Marriott's North American development, in a press release. The 168 prefabricated rooms will arrive in New York entirely built. Each "module" will house a fully equipped hotel room including beds, sheets, pillow, floor and toiletries.
The hotel will have a modular roof and a modular rooftop bar, but the restaurant and lobby will be built using traditional construction methods.
According to Bloomberg, one of the benefits of a modular hotel for guests is its quieter rooms.
"In traditional construction, a hotel room usually shares a wall with its neighbor, but the modular design usually requires an insulated space between the rooms," said Patrick Clark.
AC Hotel New York NoMad is expected to open in late 2020.
