The Ghana National Society of Petroleum Foundation (GNPC) has launched a rice exploitation project to help produce the best local rice compliant with the standards of the Ghana Food and Drug Authority.

According to Executive Director Dominic Eduah (PhD), the project aims to increase rice production, strengthen and expand access to production markets.

He added that the rice project also aimed at adopting a long-term solution to enable the government to achieve its sub-sector goal of becoming self-sufficient in rice production in order to improve the livelihoods of farmers.

Giving part of the rice to Parliament's select committee on mining and energy during their visit, Mr. Dominic Eduah, after taking the team to the farm, congratulated the farmers for a successful season.

The chairman of the committee welcomed the initiative and urged the farmers to do their best to reduce rice imports by increasing their production in order to contribute to the realization of the program "Ghana Beyond Aid" ".
