Emma Thompson joins climate change protest – jumped on 5,400-mile flight

Dame Emma Thompson arrived in London to take part in the events of the Rebellion of Death, even though she had to travel 5,400 kilometers by plane.

The 60-year-old Hollywood star arrived from Los Angeles by plane and said she was willing to be arrested as part of the protest in central London.

Its first action was to urge others to "join" the protests, in a video shared by the campaign group, despite a three-tonne carbon footprint to be at the heart of the event.

Lady Emma admitted that she "wanted to be arrested" as part of her 60th birthday celebration, which coincided with the first day of the protests, but was "part with her husband" at the time.

Dame Emma said: "I absolutely wanted to be stopped at my sixtieth birthday, but I did not succeed.

"I'm so proud and excited to be part of Extinction Rebellion."

A representative of Lady Emma said that she had to take the 4500-kilometer flight to return home to London after working in Los Angeles.

She participated in the demonstrations the same day the organizers announced their intention to target Heathrow Airport early in the weekend of the Easter holiday, condemned by the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.

Lady Emma said: "We will occupy until you act, because that is the only way to save our planet.

"We have to be here, we have to do that, it's sometimes disturbing for people but it's a lot more embarrbading to leave a completely destroyed planet."
