Minister of Public Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea
The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea, suggested that the government would undertake a demolition exercise to reduce flooding in the country.
He said the structures on the waterways would be demolished to prevent people from dying.
His comment concerns more than a dozen people who died after two hours of showers twice.
Already, the country's weather service is forecasting heavy rains this year as the rainy season approaches and we wonder if we are ready to deal with such situations.
But in an individual interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo" on Thursday, Atta Akyea said that, apart from the demolition, the government had planned about 200 million GHc to build drains and enlarge the old ones.
"There will be demolition of structures on waterways. . . we can not say because of the human face, people should die. "
