It seems that this is Meghan Markle against the media during the past year, the two parties to strengthen their ranks to try to win their camp. As far as the media is concerned, you have kings of royalty who claim that Meghan does not really fit British traditions, not to mention its parents-in-law who are starving for glory. Meghan's side is definitely stronger with many celebrities defending her and criticizing the paparazzi for repeating their old ways of Princess Diana.
What is the effectiveness of these celebrity warnings? A decade or two ago, hearing a warning from George Clooney about the dangers of paparazzi would have shamed the press.
Nowadays, there is a big problem: the paparazzi are a new generation that considers Clooney a barking grandfather.
Many celebrities see what is really wrong
With Oprah Winfrey recently calling Meghan Markle to be treated by the media, one has to wonder if they see more than a voracious media wanting to provoke controversy. In the case of Oprah, she could see a real racist bias that could become dangerous over time.
Maybe Oprah will not want to say it to disrupt things, but the world has already opened this Pandora's Box at the scale of last year.
Instead, Oprah confirms something that many of Meghan's defenders swear
Although we all know that no one is perfect, the public evidence clearly shows this positive side of the duchess, even if her in-laws said the opposite. You could suggest that his family work with the media to try to defame his name.
The question is whether the media will listen to people like Oprah and George Clooney as influential people or as older celebrities blowing in the air.
Some paparazzi members probably did not exist when Diana was alive
It is still hard to believe that Princess Diana died 22 years ago. A whole generation has lived through these two decades, including current members of the British media hired at the age of 20.
Yes, it is amazing to think that some members of today's paparazzi were just glimpses in the eyes of their parents in 1997. For them, the death of Princess Diana does not have the same emotional impact than the one who lived it.
Celebrities such as George Clooney and Oprah may appear to be grandparents warning their grandchildren of the dangers of life. These warnings may remain deaf, only because there is no understanding of the reality of what might happen again.
Princess Harry continues to show disdain for the paparazzi in Britain because of this lack of cooperation.
Talking celebrities can not help but more awareness will be
The lucky thing about this seemingly stuck situation between the media and Harry / Meghan is that they take proactive steps to maybe fix things.
Part of that begins with Oprah and Harry teaming up to make a documentary about Apple's next streaming service. It will be a document on the importance of mental health, a concept long awaited by influential people.
Let's hope this connects mental health to what Meghan has experienced and why the media process should stop to create a semblance of peace. This should also make an effort to address mental health and online harbadment connection, something that Meghan is still experiencing on social media.
Maybe nothing will work with the paparazzi, if it is by foiling them
Awareness of mental health and the link to appropriate treatment by the media will probably give the impression of another conference to young paparazzi. With them, a prudent strategy will be the only way to avoid any type of disaster.
By all indications, Harry and Meghan have a whole strategy for dealing with them without creating direct discord. Even if the British media do not like the so evasive couple, it is perhaps the only way to send a strong message, beyond the convincing documentaries or the fuss of the celebrities.
We will know if this will work once Baby Susbad comes on the scene and will cause another storm in the media.
