Theory of Season 8 of Game of Thrones: Jorah Mormont is Azor Ahai

OOver the years, everyone from Samwell Tarly to Jaime Lannister has been nominated as a black horse candidate Game of thrones for Azor Ahai, the hero destined to deliver Westeros from the evil king of the night. Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are the most obvious candidates, but it seems equally possible that Game of thrones could surprise us. Recent evidence for episode 2 of Season 8 helps to make the real Azor Ahai look like Jorah Mormont.

Here's why.

Room A: Extracts from Game of thrones The Season 8 trailer and the Episode 2 teaser confirm just about what Samwell Tarly is giving to Jorah Mormont Heartsbane, the Valyrian steel space that has been House Tarly's ancestral blade for generations.

Room B: A two year old Reddit theory postulates that Heartsbane might be crucial to defeating the King of Darkness, and other theories of equally old fans think that Jorah is the Prince who has been promised.

Jorah's new connection with Heartsbane only reinforces these theories, because much of Azor Ahai's theory implies that the hero stabs his beloved by the heart to forge a magical sword capable of defeating a great evil.

"Heart stroke." Yeah, it's a bit on the nose, but it could be a huge clue that later this season, Jorah could kill Daenerys Targaryen after shooting a crazy queen like his father. At the beginning of season 7, she showed by killing Randyll and Dickon Tarly that she did not have a lot of restraint (something that reminded us in the first of season 8 when she met Sam). If, later in the season, Daenerys becomes completely "crazy", just like his dear old father, then Jorah may have to kill her to save everyone.

It is also possible that the king of the night chooses her as her queen of the night. If she turned into a White Walker, only a Valyrian steel sword or a dragonglbad blade could kill her. What's better than Jorah to kill her with Heartsbane, fueled by the anguish of an unrequited love?

Either or both of these cases would establish many interesting narrative parallels for the series between Jorah and Azor Ahai, Daenerys and Aerys Targaryen, and even Jorah and Jaime Lannister.

Lady Melisandre, the red witch, blames the prince who has been promised (the reincarnation of Azor Ahai) since season 2. Lord's Chosen. Son of fire. Warrior of the Light. They are all the same, a person reborn "in the midst of salt and smoke" who would brandish a flaming sword against the darkness ahead. The original hero would have existed thousands of years ago and should have forged his Lightbringer sword by stabbing their beloved heart into the heart, endowing it with some kind of strange magic from the Lord of Light . It was only then that they got the power to defeat great darkness.

Most people badume that this legend refers to the creation of the King of the Night, when the children of the forest joined the first men to force the White Walkers to move far enough north to build the wall. Azor Ahai led the charge with Lightbringer.

Like most legends, however, the truth is surrounded by metaphor and mystery. We do not know what can really be taken literally or what really happened. the Game of thrones prequel series could explore this exact story, but to find out, all we can do is speculate on what happened and how it might illuminate the last season of Game of thrones.

For the moment, however, we think that Jorah's destiny is to kill Daenerys and possibly the King of the night.
