The founder, RJ Scaringe, said Rivian was working on a project related to Amazon's investment, but hinted Bloomberg that it may not be a vehicle. He is willing to sell his company's technology (this one has developed long-lasting batteries) to other companies for various products, including stationary batteries. So maybe Amazon would like to use Rivian's know-how for something other than vehicles, although he has also invested in a self-driving startup.
Scaringe noted in the interview that tens of thousands of people had filed a $ 1,000 deposit for Rivian's electric vehicles, including just over half for the R1T. This pickup and the R1S SUV should go on sale next year.
