Apparently producer Seth Grahame-Smith told CinemaBlend at a recent press conference that Chucky's new intentions were motivated by something entirely different.

In addition, Grahame-Smith said that the film's ranking had allowed the team to explore different tracks. That said, the new movie says that they will delve deeper into the bloody aspects of the story.

"We are more interested in the story of AI / Kaslan and we are referring to a Chucky who is motivated by something different from what he is in the original series, when he is Charles Lee Ray and that he's just a really psychopathic killer in the body of a doll. Says Grahame Smith. "[Also, there is] the mother / son story, the emotional component of the film, that I really feel like the movie. And especially, just the intensity, the gore, the fact that the film is rated R, that it really goes there when it goes there. I think the film looks great, much bigger than many movies of our size – a very affordable movie, we are. But we had big ambitions. This is, I would say, the first thing to do. "
