The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Brong Ahafo region described President Akufo-Addo as a "blatant liar" as a result of his comments on the "construction" of the Nobeko-Sankore road.
At a press conference to respond to some of the comments made by President Akufo-Addo during his visit to the region, Charles Akowuah, NDC's regional communications officer, said that President Akufo-Addo had declared to the electorate that the NDC, led by former president Mahama Green Book, lied about the fact that the Nobeko-Sankore road was paved.
The president added that their checks revealed that the road had never been paved, unlike the NDC green paper.
But the regional communications chief described Akufo-Addo's statement as blatant and as an allusion supposedly to blame the NDC and former president, HE John Dramani Mahama.
According to Charles Akowuah, the NDC has never made such comments on the fact that the Nobeko-Sankore Road had been tarmacked during John Mahama's administration.
"For the record, the NDC has never made such comments, whether they are descriptive or illustrated, that they have completed this road, as the president is wrongly claiming. Green, quoted by its president as evidence, has absolutely no mention or anything about this route, "he said.
He added that "to verify this badertion, page 106 of the Green Paper mentioned the roads we were working on and there was no mention of the Nobeko-Sankore Feeder Road, the President again inducing such lies ".
Mr. Charles Akorwuah called the commentary of President Akufo-Addo "lies" and called on him to apologize to the Region for misleading them.
"We, the NDCs, view these statements as an unfortunate attempt by President Akufo-Addo to intentionally misinform the inhabitants of the region.As a responsible party, we believe that it is fair to expose his political stratagems to bring mental health to our political landscape in the region, Well, ask the President to apologize profusely for his unjustified lies, "he accused.
On the issue of cashew, he said the commission will regulate the cashew industry to ensure that farmers get good rates.
According to him, President Akufo-Addo has not held his 2016 campaign so that cashew farmers feel better.
They revealed that "President Akufo-Addo launched a 10-year Cashew Development Plan on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, with the aim of diversifying Ghana's agriculture." At the launch in Wenchi, President Akufo-Addo said that He was campaigning to ensure that cashew farmers earn higher incomes when the board of directors is finally formed in June 2018 ".
The President added that the Council will regulate the cashew industry in order to ensure that farmers have good prices for their cashew products. President Akufo-Addo then urged the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Ghana Export Promotion Agency to put in place policies on storage, transportation and packaging cashew nuts to guarantee higher incomes to cashew farmers, "said the president.
Charles Akorwuah said the price of cashew sold under the administration of John Mahama at 760 GHC per bag fell to 250 GHC.
He added that during the administration of John Mahama, fertilizers had been distributed free of charge to cashew farmers, but had been removed and sold to farmers under the current administration.
