Jarrell Miller apologizes after the failure of a drug test before the fight of Anthony Joshua

Jarrell Miller said he was cheated after drug test failures forced an upcoming fight with Anthony Joshua to be abandoned.

In a video message posted on Instagram, Miller said that it was "time to act properly" and pledged to "come back better".

Miller's participation in the heavyweight fight in New York on June 1 was already threatened after the VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association) informed both sides of an adverse discovery in a drug testing sample, the thus depriving a license for the date at Madison Square Garden.

Responding to the initial negative finding on Tuesday, Miller had written on Instagram that he "had never knowingly taken prohibited stuff and when I heard the news, I was totally shocked" .

"My team and I defend integrity, decency and honesty, together we will defend that with all we have," he said.

"It was a voluntary test that I was very happy to do and these results came just a week after another voluntary test I had taken that was completely clean.

But on Friday, he took a different tone by telling fans: "I messed it up. I made a bad call. (There were) a lot of ways to handle the situation, I treated it badly and I pay the price.

"I missed a great opportunity and I have a hard time inside. My heart is bleeding right now. I hurt my family, my friends, my team and my supporters.

"But I'm confessed to that. I will take care of it. I will correct it. I will come back better and the experience makes me humble.

In the June 1 fight, Miller (right) accused Joshua of cheating.

Miller said the boxers "went through a lot" and that he did not want to give a "bad reputation" to his fellow fighters.
