Joan Collins said she was "lucky to be alive" after being forced to flee a fire at her home in London.
The old actress was at Belgravia's property with her husband Percy Gibson when a fire broke out in a private bathroom.
Both escaped unscathed after Mr. Gibson faced the flames with a fire extinguisher before the emergency arrived.
Mrs. Collins, 85, told The Daily Mail that her husband was a "hero" for his actions.
She told the newspaper, "The problem is that if Percy did not come in with the extinguisher, the entire apartment would have been consumed by the flames.
"In fact, he saved the whole building. Percy is a hero. I know a lot of guys who would not be here. He made a great sacrifice.
"And we are lucky to be alive. I do not stop thinking, "What if we were asleep without hearing the alarm? What if we went to see a movie?
The April 13 fire was triggered by sunlight that struck a magnifying mirror and then reflected on a blind, said firefighters.
Firefighters warned others against the intense sun to avoid a similar incident.
Ms. Collins had a long and successful career, making her Hollywood debut in the 1950s.
She is perhaps best known for playing ex-wife revenge Alexis Carrington in the American soap opera Dynasty.
