Public health officials in Maryland reported the fourth case of measles in a Maryland resident.
The Maryland Department of Health has indicated that people may have been exposed to measles at the following locations:
- 4000 Old Court Road in Pikesville, MD on:
- Tuesday, April 2nd from 9:00 to 13:00
- Sunday, April 14 from 10:30 to 13:30
- Tuesday, April 16th from 9:15 am to 12:30 pm
- Market Maven (1630 Reisterstown Rd, Pikesville) on Sunday, April 14 from 11:45 to 14:30.
- Seven Mile Market (201 Reisterstown Street, Pikesville) on Sunday, April 14th from 12:45 pm at 3:15 pm A stay without flaw
Measles cases in Maryland have been located in a small geographic area with postal codes 21208, 21209 and 21215.
"Although the epidemic is currently located in a small part of the state, vaccination is the best way to prevent measles in Maryland, or to move," said Frances B. Maryland has seen only one measles case in both 2018 and 2017.
From January 1 to April 11, 2019, 555 individual cases of measles were confirmed in 20 states. This is the second highest number of cases reported in the United States since the elimination of measles in 2000.
Measles can be prevented with the MMR vaccine. The MMR vaccine is very effective and safe. Two doses of MMR vaccine are about 97% effective in measles prevention; a dose is effective at about 93%.
