A Sudanese activist: "We were flogged constantly with whips"

Sudanese activists released claim to have been tortured while being held as they continue to participate in protests in Khartoum.

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in the Sudanese capital as part of one of the biggest demonstrations so far to push Sudan's military council to accept the demands of a civilian-led government.

Protesters have invaded the streets around the army headquarters.
