Police are looking for three Nigerians who abducted a consular general and head of the Estonian mission on Thursday in Accra.

According to the Accra Police Command's public relations officer, DSP Efia Tenge, Nabil Makram Bashbous, 61, was on his usual morning walk through his neighborhood when he was been removed.

Nabil Makram Basbous said Thursday morning that in about 10 minutes of walking, a white private car of the Hyundai Elantra parked in front of him.

One of the occupants came out, fired a gun at him and ordered him to enter the car or risk being killed when he resists.

Mr. Makram Basbous forced, entered and was led with the kidnappers pointing a gun and an ax toward him.

According to Makram Basbous, he could not have determined where he had been driven, but was detained in a room and held hostage against the payment of ransom.

Meanwhile, the SWAT unit of the Accra Regional Police Command has gathered information that Nigerians residing at NTHC Estates, Vivian Farms in Lashibi, Accra, were engaged in suspicious activities.

They stayed at home all day and only went out at night, the police said.

The police followed up with the intelligence services and located the house, but their attempts to enter the house met with resistance from the occupants.

In doing so, the three occupants climbed a fence wall and escaped.

Mr. Makram Basbous came out of one of the rooms, thereafter.

Police also found the car described by the victim during the kidnapping parked in the compound. A search of the vehicle found a pistol loaded with ammunition and two axes.

The vehicle has since been impounded and the case is still under investigation.
