Married couples would be increasingly imprisoned in Ghana today
If you've ever thought that prisons were reserved for thieves, armed robbers and other hardened criminals such as drug traffickers, then you must rethink.
In fact, the prison population in Ghana is becoming more diverse than ever before and thieves and armed robbers are forcing other inmates to live in cells.
Married couples would be increasingly imprisoned in Ghana today.
The chaplain of Nsawam's medium security prisons, Chief Superintendent of Prisons, Martin Padi, announced Saturday the disclosure of its contents when this portal visited prisons with the potters' temple, Israel, the Church Central Gospel Center (ICGC).
He said the incarceration rate of married couples in Nsawam prisons, for example, was alarming.
According to him, married men and women were increasingly imprisoned for committing crimes against their spouses.
He added that most offenses would probably not have been committed if couples forgave each other.
He stated that couples were harming themselves to cheat and that, for simple reasons, they should forgive each other.
The chaplain noted that in Ghana, married couples were less and less forgiven and tended to regret their actions when they were in prison cells.
He therefore called on churches and religious leaders to preach more about forgiveness to married couples in Ghana.
