Press officer Smith Toby told the BBC that two black snakes were found Wednesday in the building of the Foreign Ministry, his official workplace.
All staff members have been ordered to stay away until April 22nd.
"It's just to make sure that rampant and creepy things are fumigated from the building," Toby said.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is hosting the president's office, so he wrote an internal memo asking staff to stay at home during the fumigation," he said.
The office of the president is based at the Foreign Ministry since the 2006 fire that destroyed the neighboring presidential manor.
A video from the FrontPage Africa news site shows workers attempting to attack snakes when they show up near the building's front desk.
"The snakes have never been killed," Toby said. "There was a little hole somewhere [through which] they came back. "
Police and presidential security forces monitored Mr. Weah's residence in Monrovia, the capital. A fleet of vehicles, including escort jeeps, was parked outside.
Toby said the Foreign Ministry began fumigation on Friday.
"This building has been there for years now, and [because of] The drainage system, the possibility of having things like snakes crawling in this building was high, "he said.
The president returns to his office on Monday after the fumigation, whether the snakes are found or killed or not, said Toby.
