While filming an interview with Vogue magazine, the whole world had a first glimpse of Kim Kardashian's family home in Calabasas, California, where she lives with her three children – North, Saint and Chicago – and her husband, fashion designer and rapper Kanye West.
Their family will grow soon. They are expecting a fourth child, a baby boy, via a surrogate mother.
As Kardashian walks into his house, one of the first things viewers see or do not see is everything. There is practically nothing in his house. For a woman who has millions and millions of dollars in the bank, it can be surprising that Kardashian barely has carpets in her house.
Minimal Monastery
"So, your house is really beautiful," said the interviewer at Kardashian after crossing the threshold. "Thank you," Kardashian replied. Then the interviewer asked, "How would you describe this house?
Kardashian stopped for a moment and then said, "I would say like a minimal monastery."
She added that the inspiration for the house came from "Axel Veroordt and Kanye". Architectural Digest has described Vervoordt as a "Belgian designer and antique dealer". It is "celebrated for its captivating minimalist interiors, imbued with a serene sense of history and timelessness".
Strange wells
As for Kardashian's house, people find it just weird. Take for example the sinks in his house.
At one point, viewers saw counters with two faucets, but no basin that could contain water. Rosa Heyman, Associate Editor of Cosmopolitan, tweeted what everyone thought when they saw these wells.
"Anyone can explain to me how the" kitchen "of" KimKardashian "?? # 73Questions works," she tweeted.
In the end, these sinks were in the Kardashian bathroom. They generated so much buzz that she explained the wells in an Instagram story.
She said that her husband had been involved in the sink design process and that "eight versions" had been installed later.
Kardashian said that the sinks "went down slightly" before showing that the water was descending into a tiny "slot" serving as a drain.
A bonus of these fancy wells? "You can put it to the high pressure you want and no backsplash will rise."
No toys
What makes Kardashian's home even more unusual is that she has three children living there and during the interview, the public does not see toys on the floor or in a corner.
Kardashian joined her husband and three children in the bedroom. On the stage, toys of primary colors stood on the bed, contrasting with the beige and white tones of the bedroom, but also of the whole house (and Kardashian outfit).
While Kardashian, and sometimes the West, answered questions, one of their children said he wanted to go to the playroom. So, maybe that's where Kardashian stored all the toys and other trinkets she did not want to see in the video?
No personal items
Kardashian took the interviewer to his living room, which housed an uncomfortably uncomfortable couch, a coffee table so close to the floor that it could serve as a kid's dining table, a chimney without a chimney, a mbadive statue of a man's torso and "Steinway unbleached" piano.
Absent from the living room and all the other pieces of the video were personal items. There was virtually no sign that anyone was living in the house. There were no papers, no framed photos, and nothing on the counters except for plants or scupltures.
Twitter user, Laura Michelle, commented from Kardashian's house. "It can not really be Kim and Kanye's house. There is nothing in it … like, not even a bowl of fruit. # 73Questions, "she tweeted.
Someone else, Twitter The user @ddanrahan explained that there was so little in their gaffe or their home saying, "You can not stop thinking about Kimye's blunder! Where are their belongings? # 73questions #vogue. "
Another Twitter user "Look @ @ KimKardashian # 73Questions and have we recognized that she is a hero … a white duvet with three kids." Another strange aspect of Kardashian's house. Anyone who lives or has lived with young children knows that white cloth and children do not mix well.
