VfB Stuttgart dismissed coach Markus Weinzierl after the Bundesliga club's 6-0 defeat threatened by Augsburg.
"After the very disappointing match of Augsburg, we came to the conclusion that we needed a break," said Stuttgart sport director Thomas Hitzlsperger in a statement.
"We did not make that decision lightly, but the club's success comes first."
After the defeat, Weinzierl said that he "did not do well today".

Stuttgart has lost 15 of 23 matches since Weinzierl took over in October and has not won the match since March.
The boss of the under-19 team, Nico Willig, will take over to try to save the club from relegation.
Stuttgart has four points ahead of Nuremberg, second in the last row.
