Pastor, 6 others accused of verbally abusing ECM pleaded not guilty

Seven members of the Great Life Foundation Church in West Adisadel, Cape Coast, appeared in a Cape Coast Court of First Instance for verbally abusing the ERM 9 Metropolitan General Manager, Mr. Ernest Arthur.

They are pastor Johnson Kofi, Felix Clark, merchant, Richard Kofi Acquah, draftsman, pastor Solomon Karim, Emelia Appiah Dankwah, merchant, Francis Mensah, carpenter and Grace Aboagye, merchant.

They were released on bail for 21,000 GH ¢ after pleading not guilty to the charge of offensive conduct.

The court, chaired by James Kojoh Botah, ordered the seven to appear again on Tuesday, April 23.

The accused allegedly attacked the MCE following the demolition of a wall built around a piece of land belonging to the Church by the Department of Works of the Metropolitan Assembly.

This construction had been built in defiance of the badembly's directive that there should be no development on the ground until the relevant legal documents were obtained.

Police Sergeant Iddrisu Yakubu said the incident occurred on March 23rd.

A few hours after the badembly officials had leveled the wall, the accused verbally attacked the ERM. They also posted his photo on social media with a caption; "Who is this stupid man?"

A report was then presented to the police.
