Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia on Friday joined Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, National Chief of Imam and Muslims at the Accra Central Mosque for Jummah prayers.

The special Thanksgiving prayer was intended to express gratitude to Allah for the blessings bestowed on the Chief Imam, which would mark a hundred years on Tuesday, April 23.

The Imam leader, who led the prayers of the Jumma, thanked Allah for his life and mercy and asked that he be guided continuously.

He prayed for the peace and prosperity of the nation and asked Allah to grant the leaders of the nation more wisdom and understanding to administer the affairs of the country.

Vice President Bawumia thanked Allah for granting the long life, good health and wisdom to the Chief Imam so that the nation can continue to benefit from his good advice.

The thank-you prayer officially inaugurates a series of programs to mark the centennial celebration of the great national imam.

On Tuesday, April 23, a public lecture would be held in honor of the Imam Chief. It would be led by Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel.

Its theme is "The advancement of modern Ghanaian society through peace, tolerance and development".

Leading figures, including Vice President Bawumia, state ministers, captains of industries, clerics and clerics and members of the public should attend the conference.
