Philippe Coutinho said that he did not want to disrespect after a controversial celebration of goals in Barcelona's 3-0 win over Manchester United on Tuesday.
Coutinho scored the third goal of his team and celebrated it by putting his fingers in his ears and pointing to a booth.
The Brazilian was unhappy with the criticisms he had received this season and his reaction would have annoyed local journalists, who thought the midfielder was disrespecting his celebration.

At 26, he says he "respects everyone," but confessed that he felt liberated after scoring against United.
Speaking after Barcelona's victory over Real Sociedad, he said: "I have always been respectful of all.
"The truth is that this celebration was meant to make the audience understand that I had to block the sound so I could focus on a match or my work so it would not affect me.
"It was like a liberation."
Meanwhile, Coutinho admits he fears a return to Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp, the Barcelona host of Camp Nou in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals, before Coutinho returns to play at Anfield on 8 May.
When asked about his return to Merseyside, he replied: "It will be something special.
"I'm worried because I know this moment is coming."
