The World Health Organization has condemned Saturday's attack on a hospital in DR Congo.

The attack was the second in two days and targeted Ebola treatment centers and Ebola hospitals in the region.

The Director-General of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom, said that these attacks hampered efforts to combat the spread of Ebola in the DRC.

"Dismayed by another attack on health workers saving lives in DR Congo. The violence not only disrupts the vital response to the Ebola outbreak, but also creates a risk of spreading the disease, Tedros said Sunday.

One activist was killed and four others arrested after the Katwa Hospital attack in Butembo, a town located in the North Kivu province in the north of the country.

The attack came just a day after a WHO doctor was shot dead during another armed militia raid at Butembo University Hospital.

The latest outbreak of Ebola in DR Congo was declared in August 2018.

More than 1,200 confirmed and probable cases of Ebola have been recorded since the beginning of the epidemic, and more than 760 deaths have been confirmed.
