These are the 75 retailers who cash vegan fashion

Veganism is so much right now. From plant-based foods to pet-free entertainment to adoption, to pet purchases, more and more people are looking for ways to live humane lives. Vegan fashion, in particular, is at a time when a growing number of consumers are abandoning animal-based fabrics for sustainable, herbal materials.

Companies around the world are launching vegan products to reap the benefits of ever-growing demand. PETA (People for Ethical Treatment), the largest animal rights organization in the world, reports that more than 75 traditional retailers are now selling vegan clothing and shoes.

Zara, Billabong, Urban Outfitters, ASOS, Macy's, Stella McCartney, Abercrombie & Fitch, Birkenstock, Mink, H & M, Hugo Boss and Versace are some of the most used brands in vegan fashion. However, PETA stresses that its list of 75 brands is "by no means exhaustive."

"Why go for cruel and environmentally damaging clothes when you can just as easily … not?" PETA wrote online. "It's a question that more and more people are asking these days" he says adding that "Retailers who do not want to be left in the dust meet these demands."

Vegan fashion is on the rise

As more and more people search for vegan products, companies that have been offering animal-free products for some time are updating product descriptions to indicate that their products are vegan.

"Even long-time haute couture designers who neglect animal abuse realize that cruelly made clothes will not cut them anymore, so they drop furs and mohair en mbade and instead opt for their fake counterparts", PETA said. Last July, American fashion giant Ralph Lauren banned the use of mohair, a silk-like fabric made from the hair of the Angora goat, in all its collections. High-end fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg also discontinued the pet product in July, alongside nearly 100 other brands such as Missguided, Boohoo, Primark, Forever 21 and Marks & Spencer. In December, it was reported that more than 340 brands had abandoned the animal product.

The companies that took the initiative said they did so to align their practices with consumer preferences. When the coach abandoned the animal furs like mink, fox and rabbit, he stated that he had made the decision simply because "That's what we have to do."

PETA said it well: "The public has spoken: compbadion reigns, cruelty drools."
