A unique medical device for treating ADHD in children has been approved by the FDA.
The system of stimulation of the external trigeminal nerve Monarch was approved Friday.
It is intended for children aged 7 to 12 who do not take medication to treat it.
And it is designed to be used while the child is sleeping.
A small adhesive patch is placed on the child's forehead and a handheld device delivers a low-level electrical impulse to the parts of the brain responsible for the symptoms of ADHD.
The device has also been studied as a possible treatment for traumatic brain injury in veterans.
