BOSTON – Employees of Stop & Shop supermarkets and company representatives reached an agreement in principle Sunday, according to press releases from both parties.
The company said the deal put an end to employee strikes that began April 11 in 240 Stop & Shop stores in Mbadachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
The three-year tentative agreement with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union is subject to ratification vote by members of each of the union's union locals, the company said.
"Our employees' top priority will be restocking our stores so that we can once again take care of our customers and communities and provide them with the service they deserve," the company said. "We deeply appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers during this time and look forward to welcoming them again to Stop & Shop."
