A member of the World Health Organization working in the Democratic Republic of Congo was killed Friday, April 19 during a rebel attack.
Dr. Richard Valery Mouzoko Mouzoko Kiboung, originally from Cameroon, was killed during an attack on Butembo Hospital, an epicenter of the Ebola epidemic in Africa. Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, announced the Worl Health Organization.
"Today, we have lost one of our own: Dr. Richard Valery Mouzoko Kiboung, an epidemiologist deployed in the United States. #Ebola answer in #DRC, during an attack at the hospital in Butembo. We are afflicted with his family during this difficult time, "tweeted Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director of the WHO.

Butembeo Mayor Sylvain Kanyamanda has since attributed the attack to the group of armed Mai Mai militiamen, who opened fire on the hospital and injured several people.
