A national campaign to administer anti-polio drops to children under five begins today (Monday).
National Polio Eradication Program Coordinator, Dr. Rana Safdar, told Pakistan Islamabad Radio that the polio campaign would target 39 million children in four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit -Baltistan.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid said 42,307 mobile teams would administer the polio vaccine to children.
The provincial health minister said that strict measures would be taken against officers who are negligent while driving.
An extensive awareness campaign has already been launched throughout Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad.
Strict instructions were given that no child under five should be left without polio vaccine during the campaign.
