Hundreds of Asanteman Loyalists, including foreign leaders and dignitaries, invaded Dwabrem, Manhyia Palace, to celebrate Akwasidaekese on the 20th anniversary of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's ascent to the throne.

The event is about an hour away, but almost all the spaces of the ceremony venue have been occupied.

A team of police and military personnel conducts rigorous body checks to avoid any unfortunate impact.

Journalists without accreditation were limited to the outer perimeter of the event grounds.

The leaders of the kingdom, which extends from the Ashanti region to areas of the Bono and Volta regions, are deposited in the format.

The colors of the Ashanti Kingdom, namely green, yellow and black, were used to decorate ceremonial places.

Drums of different sizes with different sounds are being beaten to give a traditional feel to the place.

The eminent leaders of the Kingdom are seated in the order of their status.

With the exception of former President Jerry John Rawlings, who will be represented by his wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, all other former presidents of Ghana will be present.

Graphic Online has estimated that the two former presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama are already in town.

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo is also expected to take this opportunity.

The Akwasidaekese

Akwasidaekese is an extended form of Akwasidae, celebrated every six weeks according to the Asante calendar, which is based on a 42-day cycle and nine months a year.
