A heartbroken wife says goodbye to her dying husband with a magnificent rendering of "Amazing Grace"

Sometimes the magic of a song can bring comfort in the darkest moments of life.

It was a song that comforted Danielle Gibson and her family at the bedside of her dying husband on January 30, 2019. The heartbroken mother, the mother of four, was holding her husband's hand on the last day of her life while he succumbed to a devastating disease.

Tony Gibson, 33, had begun to experience a loss of memory in December 2017. The family, originally from Lebanon, Tennessee, had to make huge concessions at home for Tony's confused situation: "I should label parts of our house, "Danielle explained. The family was distraught and it was increasingly difficult to manage the deterioration of Tony's memory.

In May 2018, doctors at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville were able to provide answers.

Their answers would be a shock to Tony's family.

Tony was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, a serious degenerative neurological disorder. Alarmingly, this is the human form of mad cow disease. Tony had most likely contracted the disease by coming into contact with contaminated meat.

Most victims of Creutzfeldt-Jakob die within 12 months, for lack of known cure.

Faced with a devastating prognosis and having no choice but to remain stoic and supportive, Tony's family rallied his forces and covered Tony with love for what would become his last months of his life.

Tony's heart-broken woman even took care of her husband when he was transferred to a hospice.

Danielle even had the strength to sing him one last time, knowing how much Tony had loved listening to him sing a particular song, "Amazing Grace."

Tony looked at his wife as she sang to him. The poignant words filled the room: "Incredible grace, what sweetness of her … I've already been lost but now I'm found.

The song was able to convey a timeless sentiment between married couples as they bid farewell.

Danielle uploaded the touching video on Facebook, and her page was flooded with messages of love and support, as well as many sincere donations to the GoFundMe family campaign. Danielle is obviously worried about the financial support to be given to her children for the future.

"[He] "It's hard enough to raise two pairs of twins with hardly any income," admitted Danielle. "Any gift would be a blessing."

Fortunately, members of Danielle's community bombed the loving mother with the gestures of support she so desperately needed.

"Tony has always been so strong. He fought well, "continued Danielle.

Tony's tough fight is happily over. And with incredible grace, Danielle, her family and a plethora of loved ones will take care of each other for a long time.
