The paramedics took 48 hours to recover the body of a young man stuck under the rubble of a collapsed building in Achimota. Seven years later, he is fast becoming one of Ghana's most prominent music producers.

The three-storey building that once housed a Melcom mall tore a large part of Solomon Amoh's 26-year-old left ear and inflicted a paralyzed use of his right hand. But determined to overcome obstacles, he raised funds and built a recording studio where he produced hits for the country's greatest artists.

While Amoh lay helpless under the rubble, he "had to drink urine to survive," he told Komla Adom of JoyNews in his Darkuman studio. "It was a difficult experience. It was not easy.

At one point, he could not sleep, he recalls, but part of what kept him awake at night was a blow so he could start making music.

He invests in equipment and learns to make rhythms, including Afrobeats, highlife, trap and techno.

"Oh, and gospel. I did not add that, but it's important, "he said with a laugh.

Years later, his songs attracted the attention of Captain Planet and Kwami Eugene, among others. His goal is to become a household name.

"I am not a rich man, but I pray one day to become rich," he said. "One day it will be done."
