President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo described Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as a pillar of peace and development in the country.

According to him, the Asante monarch has played a crucial role in the development and peace of Ghana since coming to power as king of the Asante kingdom.

Speaking at the apogee of Asantehene's 20th Anniversary and simultaneously celebrating the "Akwasidaekese" festival at Manhya Palace, Nana Addo stated that it was an extraordinary journey for him up to now, with his imprints firmly engraved on many aspects of Asanteman's life. indeed, of our nation, whose results are obvious to us all to see.

"Contribute to ensuring access to education through the Otumfuo Education Fund, participate in the fight against the spread of HIV and AIDS, revitalize the chieftaincy institution and , recently, chair the Committee of Eminent Leaders, help bring peace, finally, for Dagbon, and to install a new Yaa-Na, are just a few of his many achievements and successes as 'Asantehene' . He stated.

On behalf of the Government and the people of Ghana, I join all the supporters in warmly congratulating Otumfuo Osei Tutu Ababio on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his ascent to the large golden stool.

Thousands of Ghanaians and foreigners have invaded the capital of the Asshanti region, Kumasi, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the installation of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, while the monarch simultaneously celebrates the festival "Akwasidaekese" celebrated every five years.

Security was strong in Kumasi and Manhyia Palace, in particular, where local and foreign dignitaries gathered.

Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia and his wife, Second Lady Samira Bawumia, First Lady Rebecca Akufo Addo, Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Ocquaye and his wife, former President John Mahama, as well as many dignitaries.

In addition, more than 40 international figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, are expected to participate in the event.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was inducted into the gold stool as 16th Asantehene on April 26, 1999.

The celebration of this three-month anniversary will end on May 12, 2019 with a golf competition at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi.
