Thompson can now disbademble and bademble blindfold motors at meal time
Sergio Thompson, a 19-year-old Ghanaian student, was sent to China by his father to learn auto repair techniques four years ago.
Thompson is the first foreign student at the Lanxiang Vocational School and is named Liu Yang in Chinese. The language was a difficult challenge for him.
Thompson put Chinese pinyin cards all over his room because he could continue to practice spelling.
He also took the opportunity to practice oral communication and, a year later, he could communicate with other people in Chinese fluently. Technical skill was another challenge.
Specializing in auto repair at Shandong Lanxiang Technician College, Thompson can now disbademble and bademble blindfolded motor vehicle engines during a meal.
Thompson will graduate from his college and report to Ghana this summer what he has learned in China.
Thompson and his father planned to open a technical school in Ghana and invite Chinese teachers to teach Ghanaians motor vehicle repair techniques.
