John Lennon's biopic 2009 Nowhere Boy is adapted as a musical for the theater scene.
Based on a book written by Beatle's half-sister Julia Baird, the movie Nowhere Boy describes the teenage years of Lennon and stars Aaron Johnson as a musician. Kristin Scott Thomas, David Morrissey and Anne-Marie Duff also played, while Sam Taylor-Wood made her debut as a director with the film.

The musical will largely follow the story presented in the original film, which focused on the Lennon of the Career era and his relationship with his mother, Julia Lennon, and his older sister, Mimi Smith. Producer Dayna Lee said that, as in the case of the film, this focus on Lennon's aunt and mother will portray "two very different, very powerful women in different ways."
Brian Lee added that the producers were aiming for a first in the UK for Nowhere Boy "In the coming years."
"We have just got the film rights," Lee said. "As a team, we will travel to London this summer to try to find the right person to bring this story to life."
It is understood that producers have "no immediate plans" to obtain other rights in life or music to tell Lennon's story, while Yoko Ono is aware of the project "but has no no involvement ". As with the film version of Nowhere Boy, the musical will not include Beatles songs, but will instead use rock and roll hits from the late '50s.
